It’s that time of year!! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here! The 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access officially starts on July 12th. This is Nordstrom’s biggest sale of the year, and easily a favorite of mine.
And lucky for you, I’m sharing an early access sneak peek guide to all of the best of the BEST from this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!! I’m including my top picks – including those things that I think will sell out FAST – a.k.a., the hottest items of the sale for the whole family, including women’s fashion and shoes, menswear, baby and kids, and home. What makes the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale so special is that the sale is actually ALL NEW fall items that are marked down for a limited time. (This year, everything goes back to full price on August 6th.) When the sale ends, the prices go back up to their original price.
It’s a whole different kind of sale WIN knowing that all of the items you’re shopping in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are brand new, never been seen, rather than things that have been sitting for months, and marked down once the trend has simmered.
But here’s a bit of fair warning: so many of the best sale items sell out during the early access period. 😬

I honestly count down the months leading up to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, because I always score such amazing finds at every year’s sale. Some of my favorite coats, shoes, and denim have come from Nordstrom Anniversary Sale‘s of years’ past, and that love has amplified over the years, especially having a husband and two kids to shop for as well.
Here’s what you need to know, plus tricks for scoring the best finds …
WHEN TO SHOP THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE
Although the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale doesn’t officially start until July 20th, Nordstrom debit and credit card holders receive exclusive access to shop the 2018 Anniversary Sale days earlier than anyone else starting today, July 12th. Yep, you read that right: Thursday, July 12th marks the official start for Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access, with a special release on July 11th!
Icon & Ambassadors — Shop July 11th at 12:30 ET
Early Access — Shop July 12th – July 18
Public Access — Shop July 19th – August 4
Last year, so many of the best sale items sold out during the early access period (long before the official sale started … though Nordstrom does try to re-stock throughout the sale, but you’ve got to be on the lookout for your favorites!)
THE PERKS OF BEING A NORDSTROM CARDHOLDER (PSST … SIGNING UP IS EASY!)
In case you don’t have a Nordstrom card, but you want early access to the sale, you can apply online for a card and it’s activated immediately. If having yet another credit card freaks you out (trust me, I’m super paranoid about hurting my credit!), Nordstrom launched a debit option a few years back that connects right to your checking account. In other words, you get the Nordstrom card without the credit obligation. Let me tell you, this is one of the few cards I do have … the Nordstrom Card perks are pretty awesome.
I’ve always loved being a Nordstrom customer because they treat you SO well (amazing return policy, free tailoring – my husband gets all of his pants hemmed at Nordstrom!, etc.), and the benefit of early access to their biggest sale of the year, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, is enough to make it totally worth it in my book. Plus, I get mailed $20, $40, $60, and $80 vouchers to Nordstrom all of the time, so I can splurge at thngs like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Winning.
What if I don’t have a Nordstrom Card?
No worries! Public access (a.k.a., where everyone with or without a Nordstrom card) can shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale on July 19th.
And now, without further ado, I’m sharing what to buy at this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, how to shop for the biggest steals and deals, and what not to miss before it sells out!
What to Buy at The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale This Year #NSale
(The Hottest Deals And What’s Really Worth the Splurge)
I cannot stress enough how awesome it is to shop the brand new season, on-trend items. The best thing about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and probably why it is SO popular, is that the products sold are all new arrivals for fall. We’re talking new clothes for women, men, kids, and baby, shoes, bags, homeware, and all new collections, that have never been seen or released until now!
I take advantage of the sale every year, and I’ve bought some of my favorite pieces through the sale. (Coats, boots, and bags are always my picks, but more on that below.) For years, my mom, sister, and I, start by browsing the catalog (you can check this year’s catalog out here), and we really try to narrow down what we really need aaaand want for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.
Because the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the perfect time to stock your closet for fall and winter, take a mini inventory of your closet, and decide where you’re lacking or where you’d like to update a bit with the latest trends. The trick is, deciding what to splurge on and what to stock up on. Every year during the Anniversary Sale, I buy at least one investment piece, whether that be a new coat, a handbag, a wallet, or a dream pair of boots. If you really look, some of the pricier pieces are marked down 40% or more. (And remember, these are NEW items that will go back to full price at the end of the sale.) An inexpensive way to add on-trend basics is by shopping Nordstrom’s Trend or BP department; so many cute, inexpensive finds there. Last year, I did SO well at the sale.
Once you’ve found those investment pieces and on-trend items, these are the other things you should definitely consider snatching up:
1. Coats and Leather Jackets.
Over the years, I think I’ve bought two coats that I have worn endlessly from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Jackets are the perfect thing to get during the sale, because all of the styles are brand new – a.k.a., perfect for the upcoming cold seasons – and coat and leather jacket options include best-selling brands like Vince, Mackage, Treasure & Bond, Alice + Olivia, Burberry, etc. that don’t normally go on sale … like, ever.
2. Boots.
Without fail, I always buy at least one pair of boots during the sale. This year the sale includes styles from Rag & Bone, Stuart Weitzman, Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, Dolce Vita, UGG, Sperry, Hunter, Rebecca Minkoff, and Vince Camuto. I always try to choose pairs that have a classic, streamlined look; i.e., a pair I can wear for years to come. Winter boots and cold-weather boots are also a great thing to snag at the sale, because they rarely go on sale and you’ll definitely need a pair once the snow starts falling.
3. Handbags.
This is the time to get your new fall/winter designer bag. Some of my favorite handbag brands on sale: Rebecca Minkoff (I’m guessing this suede Rebecca Minkoff will sell out super fast!), Madewell, kate spade new york, Frye, and Rebecca Minkoff.
4. Sneakers + Activewear.
I want ALL of the Nike styles this year. There are also some great options from Adidas. Plus so many cute leggings (buy anything Zella that goes on sale … the best, I tell you), sweatshirts and tanks.
5. Sweaters.
Oh, how I love a good sweater. Cashmere, wool, and luxe sweaters and cardigans … that’s the way to go during the sale. Keep an eye out for great finds from Eileen Fisher, Theory, Free People, Vince, and Halogen.
6. Designer denim.
I’ve bought some of my most-worn pairs of jeans at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in years past. Brands like AG, Current/Elliott, FRAME and Rag & Bone are included. Prices will be up to 40% off so the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is definitely the best time to stock up on denim for fall.
7. Accessories.
Without fail, I always find myself getting a new bra or pair of sunglasses. There are amazing deals this year on things like watches (MICHELE), wallets, and jewelry. The sales on designer sunglasses during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are HUGE, and I’ve always loved Nordstrom’s selection of intimates, so the fact that my favorites (like Wacoal, Free People, Natori – seriously, try the Feathers bra, Hanky Panky, SPANX, and Calvin Klein) are on sale, well, that’s just a win.
8. Beauty.
This year, there are some crazy good brand new beauty items on sale, like diptyque candles, Bobbi Brown palettes, Charlotte Tilbury , a T3 dryer, and MAC lip kits. Buy the fall season’s hottest scents and colors on sale; you’ll be thanking yourself later.
9. Mens, Kids, and Home.
The men’s shoes are insanely good this year. I love getting the girls new coats and/or winter boots during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. The past few years, I’ve been blown away by what the home section of the sale has to offer: the coziest Barefoot Dreams blankets (we have one in every room of our house), the cutest decor, and an awesome selection of bedding and pillows.
10. Baby Gear.
THE most popular strollers, carseats, high chairs, and so much more go on major markdown for a limited time during the sale, and if you’ve been on the hunt for a big ticket baby gear item, you’ll know those things almost never go on sale. Think about what you need and want. Plan with the upcoming colder weather in mind, even though it feels like it’s about a thousand degrees outside right now. Remember that Nordstrom does try to restock some items, but many of the best and most popular deals will sell out FAST. Nordstrom has an amazing return policy, with free shipping and returns, so don’t be shy about ordering something, trying it out, and returning it if it’s not a perfect fit.
