This Halloween, make these throwback DIY Tissue Paper Ghost Lollipops with a gold sparkly twist! This easy craft is inexpensive, simple to make, and perfect for Halloween trick-or-treat treats, as a classroom candy, or as a spooky party favor!
We’re throwing Emmeline a 5th birthday party at the end of the month, and I’m extra excited because she chose to have a Halloween-themed costume party! You guys, I really really love Halloween. So an excuse to go over-the-top, all out for a Halloween-inspired party; I’m all in, naturally.
I’ve been slowly decorating and putting together cute decor and party favors the last few weeks in the hopes that I’m not scrambling to design a birthday Halloween party the weekend of the big event. (Side note: life with three kids is no joke! The outnumbered juggle is so real.)
I remembered recently that when we were kids, my mom used to always make these adorable tissue paper ghost lollipops to hand out as Halloween treats for our friends in class. Tissue paper ghost lollipops make a perfect individually wrapped treat for trick-or-treating or a classroom Halloween party, as a party favor at a haunted birthday party, or just as decoration for a spooky celebration.
And bonus points: this is one of those DIY crafts that is both inexpensive and so utterly simple to make. Our big girls (ages 5 and 8) actually helped make these tissue paper ghost lollipops, and they were so proud of their creations!
Of course, I had to make our tissue paper ghost lollipops extra gold and sparkly because that is just who I am deep down to my glittery core. 😉
How to Make Tissue Paper Ghost Lollipops
What You’ll need for The Ghost Lollipops
lollipops (we used Tootsie Pops)
white tissue paper sheets (we used sparkly gold dotted tissue paper)
wire garland or ribbon (wire makes these extra easy to secure)
fine point black sharpie
scissors
Instructions
Cut a sheet of tissue paper in half lengthwise. Fold it in half again and cut and then in half again and cut until you end up with a small square. Make a stack of those squares.
Next, cut your ribbon or wire garland into 3-4” length pieces and make a pile of those.
Fold one square of tissue paper over the top of a wrapped lollipop. Wrap and twist it around the top of the lollipop to conform it to the shape of the lollipop to form the head of your ghost. Secure that at the base of the lollipop with your piece of ribbon or wire garland. If using ribbon, be sure to double knot it at the base of the lollipop candy (at the top of the stick). If using wire garland, just twist a few times until secure.
Use a fine point black sharpie to make two circles for the ghost’s eyes and one for the ghost’s mouth. Let your kids in on the fun! Ours made all sorts of spooky ghost faces on their ghost lollipops. (The ghost face most definitely does not have to be perfect.)
Fun Ways to Display Your Ghost Lollipops
You could easily serve these in a jar or hung on clear fishing wire from tree branches (which we may very well do for the Halloween party!)
