And we’re back with another super easy craft to do with your young kids at home … because isn’t that all we do lately? 🤣
Well, that and cook all day long. I was just telling a friend of mine how I work, “home school,” and cook three meals a day plus 37 snacks. Seriously, I am forever getting snacks for these kids. 🤦🏻♀️
Bit I digress. We craft. A lot.
And these days, I’m a big fan of using what we have. Which includes a whole lot of toilet paper rolls. I’m determined to make good use of those toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls!
Toilet Paper Roll Flower Stamping Kids Craft
I actually discovered this adorable craft – toilet paper roll flower stamping – through my youngest daughter, Emme’s preschool. One of her preschool teachers shared the adorable recycled painting craft on Instagram. And I knew we’d have to try it out for ourselves.
Not only was the stamping a huge hit with both of our girls, ages 2 and 5, we were able to use and recycle all of those toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls, and the finished product, our flower paintings, were the perfect thing to decorate our windows and send to family and friends!
This toilet paper roll flower stamping kids craft is so fun and simple to do and it’s adorable to watch the kids come up with their own versions and really let their imaginations soar.
All you’ll need is at least one toilet paper roll to make a flower stamp, one paper towel roll to make the stem, a bottle top to stamp the center of your flowers (though you could just as easily paint the center with a paint brush), and acrylic paint!
I’m a big fan of these satin acrylic paints and shimmer acrylic paints from Target.
They have the prettiest range of colors, they’re affordable, and they wash out super easily. So I don’t have to fret when the kids inevitably get paint all over themselves. (We used the shimmer acrylic paints for this craft!)
I used paper plates to squirt our different paint colors onto (to make cleanup a cinch!) and card stock to stamp our painted flowers onto so that the thicker paper would hold up to the weight of the paint. Though we’ve since tried flower stamping with regular printer paper and it worked just fine.
The flower stamps were super simple to make. I used scissors and just snipped petals into the top of a toilet paper roll, trying to make each petal relatively even in length. Then once I cut the petal strips, I folded down to open up the petals. I made two of these – one for each of our kids to use – and then let them stamp away!
I scrounged around in our recycling and found a few discarded plastic bottle caps as well.
The girls dipped the bottle caps in black paint to make the centers of the flowers. If you don’t have bottle caps, don’t fret – painting the centers is just as cute.

This toilet paper flower stamping craft is fun for kids of all ages and the end result makes a perfect gift! Be sure to let your flower stamp paintings dry fully before hanging. The paint goes on thick, and the texture makes the flowers look extra special, they just need a bit of time to dry.Toilet Paper Roll Flower Stamping Kids Craft
