Hi friends! I’m so glad Lexi asked me to stop by today while she’s spending time with her precious baby girl. My name is Joelle, and I blog over at Joelle Charming (formerly Something Charming). I am a blogger and wedding planner from Southern California, and I absolutely adore Lexi’s little blog here. As soon as she asked me to guest post for her while she was out, I knew that I wanted to talk about all things baby.
Though I’m not a mother (yet), I’ve been to my fair share of baby showers. I love attending showers for a few reasons – so that I can “shower” the new baby with things, of course, but also so that I can show my support to mom too.
There are so many fun ideas and themes out there, so I thought I would just share a few of my favorites right now. Let’s just say I’m stockpiling these for a rainy day, shall we?
Now, I can’t say that I’m the biggest fan of silly shower games and activities, especially anything that requires me to eat baby food or drink out of a bottle. That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of fun ideas to keep guests busy for a few hours!
1 // Decorate a onesie, tutu, or (my favorite), hair bow!
A friend of mine recently had a shower, and the host purchased a whole bunch of tutus for guests to decorate! I feel like you can even go a step further, and have guests actually make a tutu (no sewing required for this tutorial). Be sure to get different sizes, so that baby will have plenty of tutus as she grows up.
My personal favorite, however, would have to be a DIY bow bar. I love a good hair bow, and there are so many different ways you can personalize them for a little baby girl! And boys shouldn’t feel left out either – have guests decorate bowties or onesies instead!
2 // Feed the pig.
Have guests sign a ceramic piggy bank with a sharpie marker (you can even put it in the oven to let it set, if you’re that hardcore), and ask them to feed the pig. What a fun way to start your baby’s piggy bank! They’ll always remember who gave them their first bit of savings, too.
3 // “Mocktail” competition.
I love the idea of having guests mix their own drinks (non-alcoholic, of course), and mom-to-be can judge the best “mocktail.” This isn’t just for pregnant women either – kids will love something sweet to sip when they’re old enough too!
4 // Baby book shower.
Although we’re in the age of iPads and Kindles, there’s still something special about having a real-life library. Why not build up your baby’s before they’re even born, by asking guests to bring their favorite baby book as a gift? Have “library cards” ready for when guests arrive, so that they can write down their name and the date to stick inside of the book!
When I set out to research for this post, I honestly didn’t know that there were so many fun baby shower ideas and activities out there! I honestly could go on and on…let’s just hope one of my own friends reads this post before I get pregnant?
Thanks Lexi for having me! And congratulations on your sweet little one!
