This upcoming weekend is my baby shower! I can’t believe how the time has flown. But truth is: for a girl who typically plans her party outfits weeks and weeks in advance, I’ve been pretty stumped on what to wear to my own baby shower. For one thing, I’m ever-expanding, so it’s hard to know what will and won’t fit by the date of the shower. (And though my bump is still somewhat small – according to everyone else – I feel enormous – my boobs just keep on growing!) Because we’re having a very feminine party (it is a girl after all!), I knew I wanted to wear a dress – and at this stage in the pregnancy (seven-and-a-half months, to be exact), a maxi dress seemed like the perfect solution. I’ve been pretty lucky too; the only “maternity” items I’ve bought to date are a few tights and maternity jeans (which are a total lifesaver), so I’m leaning towards a loose-fitting a-line maxi dress (not necessarily maternity). These are a few of my favorites …

Hatch and ASOS also have adorable maternity-friendly dresses. (I mean, how cute is this dress?)
For all you mamas out there, what did you wear to your baby shower?

it’s a great idea, I think, because I wore one too at my baby shower four years ago. 😉 I was 33 weeks along and rediscovered a strapless black and white maxi dress in my closet that was a dressier fabric, lined, and had an empire waist belt. I had worn it a couple years before that for my birthday (not pregnant)! I liked it so much for the shower, I wore it to a wedding around 35 weeks pregnant. always in style no matter what the year or your figure, so go for it! my only rec is getting one in a more luxe fabric, which will likely be the case if it is “flowy.” congrats!

Thank you so much! That’s definitely my thinking too – why spend a ton of money on something I’ll wear once, maybe twice? Now I just need to pick one! 🙂

Time certainly does fly! The baby shower sounds like it will be so lovely and girly and fun. I think the maxi is a brilliant idea, and I would totally go for the white one, though if you boobs are getting huge and you need a nice bra, the blue and white dress would be stunning, I’m sure.

I’m so excited for you, Lexi! Wish I was having a shower.. Sadness! Anywho, maxi dress is totally the way to go and I am LOVING that Alice McCall dress! I actually found a great floral maxi on sale at Anthro (I took a pic of myself wearing it on my instagram) – could be really pretty for a shower! Here is a link to the dress (looks way better on in person & with a bump) – https://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/shopsale-dresses2/4130236201689.jsp?cm_sp=Grid-_-4130236201689-_-Regular_15
The price went even more down from when I got it!

You are awesome – thank you!! I LOVE the Alice Mccall dress, but it is a bit tent-like. So torn!
