Happy New Year, everyone! As if last year wasn’t crazy enough – new baby, tons of travel, the list goes on – we’re kicking off 2015 with another trip. Next week we’ll be hitting the road again – we’re headed to LA and San Diego – and I need help! Other than a quick wedding in San Diego a few years back, hubby and I are totally new to California. We’ve been told to hit up The Grove/LA Farmer’s Market and the Rose Bowl Flea Market, but other than that, we’re pretty wide open (other than hubby’s residency interviews, of course). Where should we visit? Where should we shop? And most importantly, where should we eat?
Thanks so much – you guys are awesome! Can’t wait to kick off the new year … so much goodness in store over the next several months, and then it’s our big move. Keep you posted.

For LA – 3rd Street in Santa Monica, Bottega Louie’s downtown, the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades (free, but you need a reservation), Malibu (there are wineries in the hills of Malibu, if you’re feeling ambitious).
For SD – There are a TON of breweries around here, if you like beer. Balboa Park is a must (the art museum has a great exhibit right now), the zoo (OBVIOUSLY), and the GasLamp for dinner.

What fun! In San Diego, Pipes Cafe – for monster breakfast burritos. Balboa Park is so cool and has tons of museums- if you like theater, there is the Old Globe Theater within the park. The SD Zoo is amazing! The Wild Animal Park is also neat.
If you’re deciding between Disney Land and Universal Studios, choose Disney Land. If you’re a Real Housewives fan, Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant Sur has really good food!
If you have a free day I highly recommend venturing into Santa Barbara- it really is the most beautiful place on Earth!

Lots of great suggestions and for SD, Old Town is a must…amazing authentic Mexican restaurants and fun stores to shop.
If you’re heading to the Rose Bowl, you have GOT to go to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens! The gardens are absolutely breathtaking. 🙂
We were told to check out the Rose Bowl Flea Market too! 🙂
Stay a few extra days and come to Tahoe! It would be soo sooo sooo great to meet you in person!

For SD: Balboa Park, Coronado Island (take the ferry across the bay), Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill (lacks ambiance but is seriously good), Bali Hai or C Level for dinner (on the SD Bay and have killer views of the city skyline)
For LA: LACMA (and the surrounding grounds), Commissary (for coffee, three locations through LA), Griffith Park Observatory, Venice Canals, Abbot Kinney for a walkabout, Granville restaurant (Burbank, Glendale and Studio City)
Those are just the things I can think of at the moment. If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know.
