Although summer is still holding on through around mid-September, it’s time to start looking towards fall trends and prepping your closet for the season! (Can you tell I’m excited for fall?) This trend – the feminine bow tie – may sound a bit intimidating in terms of taking fashion risks, but hear me out: this isn’t your average bow tie. I love when a woman wears a masculine bow-tie, played up with a collared shirt, structured trousers, maybe even a quirky set of suspenders; but this bow tie – the feminine bow tie – is not that bow tie. The feminine bow tie, also known as a pussy bow or pussycat bow is a style of neckwear that is quite literally an actual bow for your neck. Some are delicate, some are more bold, all are timeless and classic.

Made famous by designers like as Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, these feminine pussy bow ties (and pussy bow blouses) peaked in popularity in the 1920s, the 1960s, and again in the 1980s. Like all good trends, this one’s making a comeback; and you’ll want in for fall.

Whether attached at the collar or worn as an accessory, these dainty pussy bow neck ties are sure to make a statement. My personal favorite: the white blouse with black bow neck tie. These femine bow-ties also dress up a simple a-line or swing dress, and even a loved t-shirt. The possibilities are pretty endless and the result is effortlessly chic.
