Recently, Crocs and Zappos challenged us to #FindYourFun with the whole family. Well, challenge accepted. Because hubby works most of the week, we decided to start exploring our new neighborhood here in Durham, bit by bit. We’ve driven by Foster’s Market a handful of times, and every time we drive by, I insist we check it out soon. Once I heard there was a mobile farm on the property as well, I was all over it. So this past weekend, when hubby happened to have a morning free, we took advantage for some family fun.
Foster’s Market was a treat. The place has a bit of a retro vibe, with plenty of indoor and outdoor (picnic table) seating, complete with a General Store and candies by the vintage register. The restaurant boasts scratch made soups, salads, casseroles, sandwiches and baked goods. Oh, the baked goods. If you’re a chicken salad lover, get their tarragon chicken salad; it’s full of grapes, celery, and lots and lots of fresh tarragon. Hubby had the Greek pita and seemed very happy. I could have also eaten at least three more bowls of their vegan spinach, sweet potato, and lentil soup. A little bit spicy and so good. Foster’s is one of those places where I eyed every single plate that went past our table and thought, “Oh, I should get that next time!” That’s always a good sign.
Just out front of Foster’s Market is the Sol Food Mobile Farm. Sol Food Mobile Farm is a traveling, teaching, mobile garden classroom and farm stand. We had missed their hours, but lucky for us, there was an adorable farm open for anyone to check out.
As for these Crocs, I’ll be the first to admit I’ve always been a bit hesitant about the Crocs trend. Usually, I’m the stubborn girl in too-tall high heels preaching style over comfort. Of course, that’s changed a bit since having a baby girl – and now very wiggly toddler – of my own. Crocs and Zappos have totally changed my mind on the matter. All of the family-friendly Crocs styles are cute, comfortable, and durable. (Music to my ears after Scarlett splashed in puddle after puddle of wet, sticky mud on our little farm adventure. Once home, I threw all of our Crocs in the sink, rinsed them off a bit, and voilà: they were like new.)
The Crocs Scarlett is wearing – the Crocs Kids Isabella Glitter Jelly Flat – are her new favorites. She’s obsessed with the sparkles, and I’m admittedly obsessed with the fact that we have matching mommy-and-mini-me throwback jellies! Any other 90s kids can relate; I mean, who didn’t love their jellies?
Everywhere we go, Scarlett has to pick a few flowers. “Flowies,” to be exact.
Plus, Zappos has and always will be a favorite shopping destination for me. For starters, there’s the Zappos’ promise of fast, free shipping. Zappos also has an easy peasy return policy, awesome customer service, and a huge selection of clothes and shoes that our whole family loves.
So now I’m challenging you to #FindYourFun with the whole family this summer! Get out, splash in mud puddles, and explore.
