Ever since moving to Boston, I’ve had my sights set on picking tulips in the spring and we finally got around to it! Goodness, was it worth the trip. 😍
Exploring Boston in the Spring: Picking Tulips at Ward’s Berry Farm
We’ve loved visiting Ward’s Berry Farm in Sharon, Massachusetts just outside of Boston for picking berries, so when I read that they also have tulip picking in the Spring, I knew it would be the perfect weekend activity for the family.
Check out our trip a few years back to Ward’s to pick strawberries and blueberries!
Ward’s Berry Farm has a really great store complete with a deli, sandwiches and smoothies, homemade baked goods, and an adorable market with prepared foods, local wares, and more. There’s also an outdoor garden center where you can buy everything from potted plants to flowers to trees. They even have a playground and hay rides that will take you out to the tulip fields.
Our girls loved the hayride, naturally.
And picking all of the gorgeous tulips! We were given jars of water and free reign of the rows and rows of tulips (10 tulips per jar).
When to Pick Tulips
Tulips are typically in season in Massachusetts towards the end of April and into early May.
In case you’re planning to pick tulips this Spring in the New England area, peak tulip-picking season will last at least through Mother’s Day, Sunday 5/8, making it the perfect Mother’s Day weekend outing.
How gorgeous are these tulips?
After we picked our tulips and took the hayride back to the market, we grabbed a few smoothies and snacks for the ride home.
We had such a nice morning visiting Ward’s Berry Farm and we’ll definitely be adding tulip picking to our spring bucket list from here on out.
Do you have any favorite places to visit in Massachusetts in the Spring? Also, I’m always looking for family-friendly activities not too far from Boston. (Here are a few more of our favorite things to do in the Boston area with kids!)
