Have I got a colorful, floral-filled party for you! And now that the weather is crisp and cool, what better time to soak up all of the lush bohemian inspiration and throw an outdoor garden party of your own?
When my sweet friend, Mikkel of Mikkel Paige Photography reached out with her friend Anna’s colorful outdoor bohemian thirtieth birthday garden party, I was immediately sold. Bright colors, beautiful blooms, an epic cheese board, flower crowns, bubbles, temporary tattoos, “Magical Unicorn Nectar,” a vegan funfetti cake, and bohemian style floor seating … Y’all know I can’t resist.
The birthday girl herself, Anna, is the lead designer and owner (along with her husband, Brian) of Meristem Floral. I LOVE that Anna brought together a few creative friends are threw herself one beautiful, memorable thirtieth birthday party. My great grandmother, Ella, always took herself and the family out to dinner, or threw herself a big birthday party. Because celebrating with her loved ones was exactly what she wanted for her birthday. I’ve always adored the idea of throwing your own parties. If you build it, they will come. Also, if you celebrate it, everyone you love will celebrate right along with you! Win, win!
A Colorful Outdoor Bohemian Thirtieth Birthday Garden Party
From the birthday girl, Anna of Meristem Floral:
I wanted to throw a celebration that brought friends and family together. One that celebrated 30 years of life and all that I had to look forward to in the future.
With my personal style being a mix of lush garden and relaxed bohemian, we chose long and low guest seating with patterns and pillows in shades of orange, yellow, pink, and blue, topped with lush and full floral compotes and plenty of pillar candles. We strung market lights over the front lawn for dancing and set up lounges for mingling.
I wanted the evening to be light-hearted and full of fun.
What better way to do that than coax everyone’s inner child? So we set up a bubble station where guests could take it back to their childhood days with a bubble wand and see who could make the biggest bubbles! We set up a “wishing station” where guests could write their birthday wishes for my year ahead. We also had a temporary tattoo station where guests could apply floral tattoos, which were fitting considering I am a professional floral designer!
I created a mouth-watering charcuterie display for guests to indulge in all night long, as well as a signature drink which we affectionately called Magical Unicorn Nectar.
Later in the evening, after blowing out my birthday cake candles, I cut into my vegan funfetti birthday cake. It was the perfect way to end the best birthday bash of all time!
The pattern, the colors, the flowers … swooning yet?
I’m pretty sure I’ll be ending every party from here on out with a “wishing station.”
Have you thrown yourself a birthday bash? (And doesn’t this make you want to?) 😍
Big thanks to all of the talented vendors who made this colorful outdoor bohemian thirtieth birthday garden party possible!
