And just like that, it got cold. Really really freaking cold. It’s 35° out right now and it’s mid-October. Not cool. Apparently this is how fall works: the summer heat lasts and lasts, and then BAM – it’s cold. Way to catch up, fall. So I’m frantically shopping coats*, of the extra-cute variety; a.k.a., statement coats, and so many adorable plaid coats are topping my list. I love the nod to classic style that a great plaid coat offers, but in so many colors and varying plaid patterns, all have a modern spin. Want.them.all.
*By the way, unlike normal people who have years-upon-years worth of coats to get them through fall and winter – lightweight coats, rain coats, medium-weight coats, down coats and puffers – I have three coats. Total. Okay, maybe four, two of which are leopard print. And none are very warm. I also only own one pair of gloves, which I seem to have misplaced at the moment. Entirely impractical for this North Carolina transplant, and all I really have to show for a few vacations in the winter-time outside of my tropical Miami comfort zone. Send help, and coats.
I have my eye on this laid-back Free People windowpane cardigan jacket (before it gets too cold), an unexpected plaid cape, an ombré black and white check plaid coat (that’s under $200!), and this stunning Tory Burch checked woven coat.
Love that bright red tartan plaid duster coat; it would be perfect straight through winter.
