What to Wear to a Summer Wedding With Best of BKLYN

If your summer schedule has looked anything like mine, you have a LOT of summer weddings on your plate. I’m here to help you out with demystifying dress codes and pulling together the perfect wedding guest outfit!

For a wedding on grass, in a garden, or somewhere similar, I like to keep things light and just plain pretty! Since this dress has so much gorgeous embroidery, keep your jewelry simple. Wedges are key in any outdoor wedding ensemble, so you can save yourself the hassle of getting stilettos stuck in the grass every two seconds. Beach weddings are so fun and romantic, but the sand can definitely present some shoe issues. My advice? Ditch the heels at the sand’s edge, and pick them up before dinner and dancing! And make sure you’re wearing SPF, since you’ll be in the sun. Beach weddings, in my opinion, call for bright, happy colors, and I’m loving this yellow Kate Moss for Topshop frock. (Here’s an even less expensive yellow stunner!)

Ah, black tie weddings. The best excuse to put on your fanciest frock, highest heels, and dance the night away! For winter black tie weddings, I (personally) veer towards darker colors, but for summer, I love the idea of wearing a spicier hue, like this bright coral shown above. If you do go for an ultra-bright hue, I love metallic and/or black accessories to finish off the look. (More budget friendly options: this one is almost a dead ringer for the dress above, available at Rent the Runway for only $70 for the weekend (perfect if you don’t go to many black tie events!), this purple dress is stunning, and black tie is always a good excuse to bust out the sequins!
