One of my hubby’s favorite holiday treats is peppermint bark; you know the type – the chocolate pieces with a hint of crunchy mint candy cane topping that often come in a tin and make everyone’s day. Best.gift.ever. Here’s the really great part, peppermint bark is fairly simple to make and oh so good. With the holidays just days away, this peppermint bark is an easy and incredibly sweet gift to throw together and also makes a great addition to any holiday dessert table. Enjoy!
MARBLED PEPPERMINT BARK
1 (12 oz) bag of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
½ (12 oz bag) of white chocolate chips
3-4 crushed candy canes
1 tsp. coconut oil (optional)
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Crush the candy canes into small pieces, and melt the chocolate chips in separate bowls (with about ½ tsp. of coconut oil in each to add shine). Spread an even, thick layer of the semi-sweet/dark chocolate onto the parchment paper, forming a large rectangle. Then, dollop on the melted white chocolate and swirl it in with a spoon. Finally, sprinkle on the crushed candy canes. Place the baking sheet into the freezer for 10 minutes, until solid. Slice the bark into pieces with a knife, or break apart by hand.
