Winter offers a great opportunity to change up the look of your home, especially looks that you would otherwise be afraid to try in your interior design. And now that the holiday season is behind us, it’s time to focus on a few new Winter design trends. My suggestion: try it for a season, and if you love it, let the trend stick around for Spring! The best way to decorate your home for Winter is by adding a few warmer elements to your home design. A few wintery touches for your house or apartment:
Get the Winter Design Trends: 1. All Modern IMAX Woodland Birch Candlestick (Set of 3) // 2. Pottery Barn Faux Fur Pillow Cover in Caramel Ombre // 3. DwellStudio Sheepskin Long Smooth Pillow // 4. Pier 1 Imports Glitter Faux Berry Wreath // 5. C. Wonder Agate Gold-Trimmed Bookends (Set of 2) // 6. Harry Allen Areaware Pig Bank // 7. Target Threshold Faux Fur Throw // 8. One Kings Lane 4 Piece Hammered Copper Canister Set
- Pick up those fur, sheepskin, and faux fur throws and pillows you’ve been eying in all of those Holiday catalogs. Winter is the perfect excuse to try out a bold trend like a fur blanket; plus, you’ll be surprised how quickly you fall in love with the plush pieces.
- Candles always add a warm touch to your home, try bunching them together on a tray on top of your coffee table or mantel, and maybe this season, instead of sticking to your favorite jars of candles, buy a few white pillar candles in different heights – they look better after every use – the more the wax drips, the cooler they look.
- Decorate with Winter flowers. Try making arrangements out of ranunculus, anemones, paperwhites, camellias, juniper, hypericum berries, magnolia leaves, even persimmons.
- Buy accent pieces in gold and brass. Pick up gold jars, brass candlesticks, a heavy set of gold-dipped bookends – all of these will add that cool Winter element to your space.

That berry wreath is gorgeous! I rarely decorate for the seasons (just the holidays), but that’s something I should change

I love those copper canisters! I was in a vintage store yesterday in Brooklyn and found some exactly like that for $10 a pop! I am really thinking about going back and getting them!

I love a faux fur pillow for winter. I used to have a great one that I swapped out with linen pillows for the summer. Easy update!
