Celebrate Easter with your kids and make these simple Easter bunny cinnamon rolls using store-bought cinnamon rolls for an adorably sweet breakfast treat!
Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls
After making the cutest Cinnamon Roll Ghosts for Halloween using store-bought cinnamon rolls, we were excited to try our hand at these Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls. Our girls are completely obsessed with making shapes out of cinnamon rolls (and cinnamon rolls in general).
And what’s not to love? Warm and gooey cinnamon rolls fresh out of the oven, shaped like adorable bunnies that your kids can decorate for the yummiest Easter breakfast or brunch treat; such a win!
These Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls – or as our family has dubbed them: “Cinnabunies” – are so easy to make and are ready in under 20 minutes!
What You’ll Need to Make Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls
All you need to make these cinnamon roll bunnies is a pack of refrigerated cinnamon rolls (they come with the frosting!) and any sprinkles, candies, or icing you might want to add to decorate and design your bunny cinnamon rolls.
While we used the jumbo store-bought cinnamon roll size for our Cinnamon Roll Ghosts for Halloween, we created these Easter bunny cinnamon rolls using the Original size roll of cinnamon rolls that come with 8 rolls in a pack. I thought the size was perfect for our kids, though I will say that it was a bit trickier to unravel the dough on these standard size store-bought cinnamon rolls versus the jumbo rolls (a.k.a., Grands!).
How to Assemble Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls
The technique for turning traditional circular cinnamon rolls into bunny cinnamon rolls is surprisingly simple.
To assemble your Easter bunny cinnamon rolls from a standard round cinnamon roll shape, you’ll unravel about half of the length of your pre-made cinnamon roll, then using that cinnamon roll “tail” you’ll re-work it into two little curves (the bunny ears) at the top of the center circle, and attach it back to the round face of your bunny. I’m sharing the exact how-to over on Instagram, @glitterinclexi.
The technique is easy enough that our 6-year old and 9-year old daughters were able to help shape the bunny faces (and had so much fun doing it.)
Baking Easter Bunny Cinnamon Rolls
Then of course, just bake your Easter Bunny cinnamon rolls as you would the standard store-bought cinnamon rolls, according to the package and allow to cool before decorating.
And then of course – you get to decorate your bunny cinnamon rolls! I pulled out rainbow sprinkles (these adorable sprinkles have actual candy rainbows in them!), Easter Pastel M&M’s, sugar daisies, and icing. You can also use your own homemade or store-bought icing to add to the decorating, though the white icing that comes with the store-bought cinnamon rolls works great too.
