I’ve already gone on about the more dramatic street-style versions of maxi dresses and skirts, but what about those everyday maxi dresses that we all live in in the hotter months? And, in just a few weeks hubby and I are headed on a two-week jaunt around Europe (sooo excited!), and I’m convinced that casual maxi dresses are the perfect outfit for day-to-night. [By the way, what would you pack for tourist-driven travel (a.k.a., sightseeing) in the hotter months?]

I am seriously coveting that first maxi.
I would stick with dresses and skirts for your trip. When I was in Spain last August, I was more comfortable on the days that I wore a dress or maxi skirt rather than shorts … there’s more air flow, I guess 🙂
My hardest item to find and pack was comfortable and CUTE sandals. Good walking sandals are essential, but I found most styles were hideously ugly. I searched for months for the perfect pair, and the closest I came was a pair from Macy’s b.o.c. by Born line. Good luck in your packing!

Love your picks. Maxi skirts are great for travel because in some European countries they definitely don’t show as much skin as we do in the summer!

OMG. Love every single one.. I can’t even pick a favorite. I have a thing (like an obsession) for maxi dresses / skirts.

I’ve been wanting to wear maxis everyday! Unfortunately the weather by me isn’t quite warm enough but these are all so pretty and I’m so ready for maxi wearing season!

We did two weeks in Europe last summer, I was way too hot in my maxi dresses during the day in the Mediterranean countries. I would suggest knee length(or slightly longer) knit dresses instead and bring along a scarf in your bag, so you can cover your shoulders if you go to old churches, the Vatican, etc. I second the born sandals. I got a pair right before our trip and lived in them on the trip. They were super comfy, no blisters and great cushioning when walking on cobblestone.

Great advice! I’m definitely worried about the temps. Last time I visited Rome in the summer it was unbelievably hot. The scarves are a great idea!
