When it comes to winter dressing, there are a handful of winter essentials that are always worth investing in. A warm coat is a given, and a good pair of cozy cold weather boots should be topping your list as well. It wasn’t until I moved to colder climates (Miami, Florida → Durham, North Carolina) that I truly understood why cold-weather boots – a.k.a., snow boots – mattered. When it’s legitimately cold and ice-y, there really is no other shoe to tackle the inevitable slipping and sliding. And trust me, I know here in NC, we don’t have it nearly as bad as it can be! When looking for a new pair of cold weather boots, I always look for boots that check off a few fundamental categories:
- a rugged, non-slip bottom
- style (a.k.a., not ugly or too too clunky)
The good news? You don’t have to sacrifice style for warmth when it comes to cold weather boots. Plenty of brands have really found a way to strike that balance between form and function, and most winter boots these days have at least some style to them. If you’ve been searching for a chic pair of cold-weather boots for the season, look no further; I’ve put together a winter guide to the best (and chicest) boots that will keep your feet toasty and dry!
