This year we’re spending our first Thanksgiving away from my family (hubby has to work on Thanksgiving, so we couldn’t get home.) Luckily, my BFF and her adorable family are coming to North Carolina for a visit. I am over the moon to see them, and of course, to throw my first ever Thanksgiving dinner on my own. I couldn’t be more thrilled that our friends are choosing to spend their holiday with us, and I have big plans to make one awesome and memorable family dinner. We both have little girls – she has two, I have one. My own mom has always gone above and beyond to make these incredible Thanksgiving dinners; i.e., an abundance of great food, the prettiest decorations, and a time to share what we’re thankful for, plus midnight turkey sandwiches and holiday movies all night long, and I want to do the same for our girls.
With a little help from Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies and Reddi-wip® at Walmart, I’m a girl on a mission. Pie is comfort food at it’s finest, and though I’m a dessert-a-holic, after a huge Thanksgiving meal, it’s always hard to justify all of the amazing pie. So I’ve got a plan for a Friendsgiving and a dessert that I’m hoping will really wow my guests (and yours too!) Say “hello” to pie shooters! This season I’m going to #ShareTheJoyOfPie to make a truly special holiday for our young families.
Plus, I’m reaching for a hand from Marie Callender’s. Their packaged pies are incredible, and taste just as good (if not better!) than homemade; especially their Southern Pecan Pie. Marie Callender’s offers great options for getting your desserts prepared in a flash. After hours of Thanksgiving dinner prep, a simple-to-create, but fun and delicious, dessert is where it’s at. Even though we’re hosting our first Thanksgiving dinner away from home and our families, a warm dinner full of laughter, friends, and yummy dessert is the perfect way to bring the comfort of home to our new home.
HOW TO MAKE SOUTHERN PECAN PIE SHOOTERS
For my Thanksgiving pie shooters, I went with Marie Callender’s Southern Pecan Pie (a little nod to our new North Carolina home!) and Reddi-wip Whipped Topping. One pie should yield about a dozen pie shooters.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
First things first, pop into your local Walmart and pick up your Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies and Reddi-wip® Whipped Topping.
Next, bake your pie according to the instructions on the box. I allowed the pie to cool for about twenty minutes once out of the oven so that I could easily work with it. Once your pie is cool, set up your work space. Lay out all of your glass “shooters” and grab a few spoons for scooping.
Scoop a small amount of pie into each shooter. Be sure to get a nice crust-to-filling ratio in each cup.
Just before you’re ready to serve the shooters, top each with a generous dollop of Reddi-wip Whipped Topping and sprinkle with a hint of cinnamon.
I served my Southern Pecan Pie Shooters on a wood tree slice cake plate and topped with a wood “Celebrate” cake-topper to fit my outdoor rustic Thanksgiving theme.
I decorated the table (after dragging our dining room table and chairs outside, because the weather has been just too perfect) with plenty of green vines, leaves, and white florals; mostly things I was able to pick in my backyard, plus a little fresh rosemary for that holiday feel, a few plain white taper candles you can find at Walmart, white dishes and napkins, and clear glasses. Simple, rustic, and warm.
Voilà! Your very own friendsgiving, complete with pie shooters.
This holiday season, #ShareTheJoyOfPie and celebrate your loved ones without all of the added pressure. Let Marie Callender’s® Dessert Pies and Reddi-wip® lend a helping hand and serve up everyone’s favorite desserts in fun and memorable ways. Basically, if you can think it, you can PIE it!
I’d love to hear about your favorite holiday desserts? What’s your go-to pie?
