I kept hearing about this book – which is part of a trilogy – over and over again, so I hopped on the waitlist for a digital copy at our local library, and needless to say, when it came in, I TORE THROUGH IT. This fantasy novel is set in Manhattan. The year is 2118. A hundred years into the future, NYC is now a giant tower spanning nearly the entirety of what was once the city. The thousand floor tower – chock full of glittering innovation and high-tech luxury – spans 2.5 miles, with the most expensive, exclusive apartments being on the higher floors. It’s basically a futuristic Gossip Girl, with a pretty gripping plot-driver. There’s a clear hierarchy, and the book explores the relationship between the different distinct classes through the lens of five (beautiful) teens. The tagline: “[W]hen you’re this high up, there’s nowhere to go but down ….”
