Simple Caprese Skewers with Balsamic Glaze

Ingredients

NOTE: You'll also need regular-sized toothpicks.

Instructions

  1. Using your toothpicks, assemble one mozarella ball, a small piece of rolled up or folded basil (so that it stays on the toothpick), and a tomato. I like to nestle the basil between the mozarella and tomato so that it stays put.
  2. Arrange your finished skewers on a platter, drizzle with a little olive oil, balsamic glaze, and a sprinkling of salt and pepper.
  3. OPTIONAL: To make your own balsamic glaze, add one cup of balsamic vinegar to a sauce pan over medium heat. Once it comes to a boil, set on simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it reduces to a syrup consistency. (Basically, once the vinegar is reduced to half its volume.) You can check on the consistency by dipping a spoon into the balsamic glaze and if it covers the back of it, it's done. Remove from heat and allow to cool before topping your skewers.
  4. Serve and enjoy at your next party!
