Little Love Notes

Lifestyle blogger Lexi of Glitter, Inc. shares a few little love note to the things loved most this week, plus weekend plans (psst ... they involve work, but at least the desk is pretty.) Click through for the details. | glitterinc.com | @glitterinc

I can’t believe I’m 37 weeks pregnant this week! Well, I can. I feel HUGE. I also have all of this energy, and a need to tackle everything before our babe comes, and yet, everyone keeps telling me to slow down. I have a toddler. There is no slowing down. But I am trying to get as much work done as I can – the kind where I sit on a couch and work from a laptop – before her arrival – because I know in those first few weeks, the last thing on my mind will be work. I hold those first few weeks pretty sacred. It’s a chance to bond with your new baby, to soak up that sweet newborn smell, the sound of their tiny breaths, and to heal. Labor is no joke. Soooo, I’m attempting to take it easy this weekend. No promises, of course. I’ll be sharing what we’re up to throughout the weekend over on instagram (lots of fun behind-the-scenes on my insta stories too!), facebook, and twitter. Follow along! How about you? Any exciting weekend plans?

With that, a few little love notes to the things I loved most this week …

Dear DIYs to try, this awesome (and simple) vertical gold hoop photo display.

A few little love notes to the things I loved most this week, including this DIY wood bead chandelier, tiny heart stud earrings, and tahini chocolate chip cookies. | glitterinc.com | @glitterinc

Is anyone else blown away by the fact that this weekend marks the very last weekend of Summer? It’s all kind of confusing because school started back up a couple of weeks ago, but still, actual FALL is just days away. (So is sweater weather!) We’ve had a busy week, with family from Miami in town, and I’ve loved every second of it. This weekend things should be mostly back to normal; that is, until this baby decides to make her arrival, and then everything will get turned all upside down (in the best sort of way possible.) I’ll be sharing what we’re up to throughout the weekend over on instagram (lots of fun behind-the-scenes on my insta stories too!), facebook, and twitter. Follow along! How about you? Any exciting weekend plans?

Dear flashback fame, really beautiful unpublished photos from Marilyn Monroe’s last photoshoot.

Dear simple bauble lovers, these tiny gold classic heart stud earrings are darling.

Dear benefits of sleep, if you have relationship problems, try getting more shut-eye.

Dear weekend baking, tahini chocolate chip cookies. (If you love sesame seeds, odds are, you’ll LOVE tahini.)

It has been a crazy few days, to say the least. My entire Miami family is currently en route to North Carolina to avoid Hurricane Irma. We’re expecting to have a very full little house by the end of the weekend, and that’s just the way we like it. In the meantime, I’ve stocked up on water, lighters, and ALL of the carbs, in case we lose power from the ugly bands of the storm. Though truthfully, growing up in Miami, I know just how unpredictable these storms are, and I know it may never make it up this way. Here’s to hoping. I hope you all are prepared, and staying safe and dry. Thinking of all of you!

Little Love Notes

Confetti Cookie Cup Ice Cream Sundaes

It’s my birthday!! And for the record, you totally know you’re a mom when you ordered and are picking up your own birthday cake and dinner. But I’m just excited for (cooked) sushi, chocolate cake, and cuddles. Also, girly movies. Hubby will be subjected to ALL of the girly movies.

This weekend is a busy one; wedding Saturday, brunch with friends Sunday morning, and a kids’ birthday party Sunday afternoon. We also had another growth scan/ultrasound yesterday and found out that baby girl two (#babygirldos) is starting to fall in percentile/size – we just hit the 20th percentile; so we’re shaping up to have another Scarlett it seems. My hope is to get our bags packed and ready, carseats installed, etc. THIS weekend, since we’re nearing 35 weeks and Scarlett, who’s percentiles also kept dropping, came at 36 weeks. 😬 Apparently, we just make tiny babies. Now let’s hope we can keep this one cooking a bit longer. Wish us luck!

Little Love Notes

Lifestyle blogger Lexi of Glitter, Inc. shares a few little love notes to the things loved most this week, including this almost 34 week bump! (maternity style) | glitterinc.com | @glitterinc

Hello, weekend! We have a busy one – and seem to have a lot of those right up until baby number two’s big arrival (if she stays put that long, of course!) We’re almost to 34 weeks; can you believe it? (Knowing Scarlett came at 36 weeks has me a in planning frenzy mode. Truthfully, our house still looks like a disaster of folded baby laundry and new baby gear, though slowly, but surely, we’re making some headway. I’m also working on the hospital bag now. Mamas of two or more, what kinds of things do you bring for your older child(ren) so that they could feel included?)

As for our weekend, Saturday we’re attending a sprinkle and Sunday Scarlett and I are going to a girl’s dinner with a few of the moms and girls from Scarlett’s new class (how cute is that?) Hubby is working most of the weekend, but such is the life of a resident. I’ll be sharing what we’re up to throughout the weekend over on instagram (lots of fun behind-the-scenes on my insta stories too!), facebook, and twitter. Little Love Notes

Lifestyle blogger Lexi of Glitter, Inc. shares a few little love notes to the things she loved most this week, including coffee, a French-style apple tart, American small talk, and more. | glitterinc.com | @glitterinc

Today’s a big day for us, and I’m a bundle of nerves. My little girl is having eye surgery. Thankfully, it’s a relatively small procedure, but she does have to be put under anesthesia, and truthfully, though I feel like I’m prepared, I can’t wait for this day to be behind us. I’ve talked to the doctors and nurses, I did all of my research, I have every hospital toy under the sun ready and waiting for her (How cool are these lace & trace animals, this wooden bead set, and this mess-free touch lights art activity station? By the way, everyone told me to get this one; it’s perfect for hospital visits and travel!); but really, I just wish I could make all of the tough stuff go away for her. I wish she didn’t have to get through these hard things at such a young age. (Scarlett was born almost a month early, and though she’s utterly perfect, we’ve had a few health bumps along the way. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: thank goodness for incredible doctors and nurses.) This will be her second time under general anesthesia, even though she’s only just turned three years old. I feel exhausted and worried and so, so guilty. But I also know that we’re helping her. I know that she needs US to make the tough calls for her. To help her. Wish us luck, send us good vibes, and here’s to hoping she rocks this surgery, and we can all cuddle up for a movie marathon tonight.
