It’s time for a little beauty edition of my favorite things, so I’ve rounded up a few of the beauty items (think hair, makeup, and skin) that I’ve been using and love, plus a few on my wish list this season; a.k.a., the shopaholic confessions.
Read on to check out my favorites – including why they’re my favorites – and be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post for THREE chances at WINNING a $175 Sephora gift card to stock up on your own fall beauty must-haves!
I’ve fallen for Zoya nail polish and I’m stocking up for fall. It’s a Big Five Free, a.k.a., toxin free nail polish and their color selection and quality is incredible. (Just added to my cart: Anja is a rich, deep, vampy red-toned wine purple with a glossy creme finish, perfect for the cold seasons ahead, and Claudine is a shimmering black metallic with a vein of gold to soften it. Be still, my black-loving heart.)
Drop everything and buy IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Waterproof Concealer. (Say that three times fast.) This is a miracle in a bottle. I can hide even my darkest undereye circles in an instant with this stuff. It’s that good. Next on my list is Bobbi Brown’s Instant Confidence Stick; it’s basically velvet in a bottle that helps to smooth out wrinkles and lines before you put on your makeup.
Is it wrong to want a beauty product mostly because of the packaging? The new Hourglass Blush, Bronzer & Strobe Ambient Lighting Palette (which are always gorgeous to begin with) is dressed in WHITE MARBLE. I want.
I am in love with the T3 Twirl Convertible Curling Iron, and now I want to buy additional barrels to achieve different waves and curls. Obsessed. And while we’re on the subject of hair tools, is anyone else totally curious about the new dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer? Is this going to be the world’s best hair dryer? I’m intrigued.
Rumor has it, Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara is made of magic (okay, mostly science.) The revolutionary formula forms a water-resistant, 360-degree coating around lashes (kind of like tubes), dries instantly, adds major volume, and can’t smudge or smear. How crazy cool is that? AND, right now, Nordstrom is throwing in a full-size Beauty Booster Lip & Cheek Color with your $100 Trish purchase.
Speaking of Trish, I bought a Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Eyeshadow and Eyeliner a few months back and I can’t get enough. I use the shimmering eyeshadow/eyeliner stick in place of eyeliner during the day when I want to keep my makeup low-key, or I top my eyeliner with a darker color, like Dove, for a night out. The shimmer is subtle but adds such a glamorous touch that’s pretty much goof-proof. Can you tell I’m not a big risk-taker when it comes to makeup?
I can’t believe I still haven’t tried the uber lush Tom Ford line of lipstick. Fall marks the start of my favorite lipstick-wearing season – hello, mauve, deep plum, burgundy, blood red, and cranberry – so I’m thinking about finally buying myself a tube or two of the coveted Tom Ford lip color. (Dreaming about Cherry Lush, Dark and Stormy, and Casablanca.) I’ve also heard good things about Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick … Tannin looks like the perfect fall shade (and at $26 its definitely more affordable than Tom Ford) and somehow I have never tried Mac Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in either Sin or Diva (both are bestselling vampy shades that have been standouts from the line for years and at just $17 a tube, I might have to splurge and try both. I loooove a vampy lip.)
By the way, if you’re looking for a simple way to organize your makeup on the go, these Truffle clear pouches are a lifesaver.
Okay, clearly the list goes on and on …
