The Best Ways to Wear Boots Before It Gets Chilly

Admit it: you miss boots just a little. Summer will do that to you. And with all of the gorgeous boots on sale at Nordstrom’s HUGE Anniversary Sale right now, who can blame you? But guess what? Paired with the right look – I love boots worn with a breezy summer dress – boots may be your new summer style secret weapon.

PSST … details about our HUGE Nordstrom Giveaway at the end of this post! (Someone is going to win a $1,350 gift card to shop the #NSale!)

The Best Ways to Wear Boots Before it Gets Chilly:

Go for boots with a lower ankle. When it comes to styling boots in the summer, try to stick to booties and boots with a lower ankle, although a fun pair of mid-calf cowgirl boots can look adorable in summer as well. The key is to allow some skin to show, to keep the look from feeling too misplaced in this heat. Even if you simply roll up the cuff of a pair of jeans, showing a bit of leg is what keeps the look warm-weather appropriate. If you’re worried about how a boot may cut at your legs in an awkward place, a nude bootie is also seasonally appropriate and magically leg lengthening.

And in case you’re looking for just the right boots to take you from Summer to Fall at this year’s #NSale, my vote goes to this perforated bootie (that also happens to be oh so comfortable), this cutout bootie, and this bootie with a chunky heel. The key to a boot that works in warmer temperatures (think spring and summer), is a boot that breathes a little. I’m a big fan of cutout booties, but any pair with perforations, zippers, or even just a little extra wiggle room will do the trick. Pair those with a pair of denim cutoffs or a breezy dress and you’ve got warm-weather outfit gold.
