Little Love Notes

Grey Malin Miami Pink Umbrellas Vintage

We’re home in Miami! We left Thursday afternoon, making a pit stop in Georgia, and drove all day Friday. We’re big fans of road trips to get places these days (more about how we travel everywhere with a toddler here). Waking up in my bed here in Miami this morning was the best. It has officially been way too long, and homesick doesn’t even begin to describe it. So happy to be with my family and I’m dreaming about the beach and all of the food I’m going to eat. So many restaurants, so few days. Doubling up on lunches seems like the only reasonable solution. I’ll be sharing what we’re up to throughout the weekend over on instagramfacebooktwitter, and snapchat → glitterinclexi (lots of fun behind-the-scenes there). Follow along! How about you? Any exciting weekend plans?

With that, a few little love notes …

Dear design enthusiasts, everyone is making their own abstract art and you should too.

Dear fellow mamas, Lynzy’s life a drunk mom post (a.k.a., on every tired mama) is too funny. (By the way, you deserve something special for Mother’s Day.)

Dear foodies, potato chips gone wild.

Dear everyone, top wedding photographers share their most memorable image.

Dear wanderlust, how to have a $1,000 day in Paris for $100.

Dear beauty lessons6 lipstick mistakes you didn’t know you were making.

Dear aging in grace, Amanda Peet on why she’ll never get Botox.

Dear Spring showers, THE most adorable rain boots, possibly ever.

Dear weekend baking, blueberry crumb bars.

Get the origins of these sweet little love notes, here, and catch up on love notes of the past.

The Mother’s Day Gift Guide (You’ll Both Love)

My second Mother’s Day is nearly here (I’m so lucky that Scarlett made me a mama!) – and I’m celebrating with a wishlist of sorts – that I think all moms are going to love. A few years back I started a little blog tradition of posting The Ultimate Gift Guide for Mom , a.k.a., the Mother’s Day Gift Guide (you’ll both love), full of luxe gifts mama wouldn’t normally treat herself to, because that’s what Mother’s Day is all about, after all. And truly, the mothers in our family (especially mine!) are absolutely incredible, always put us first, and never really splurges for themselves. The holiday is right around the corner (Sunday, May 8th to be be exact mark your calendar!); let’s treat our moms, because they totally rock.

With online shopping, there really is no limit to great Mother’s Day gift ideas and finds (I mean, how utterly darling is this “mama” necklace?) But shopping in stores or online for that perfect gift can also feel really daunting when the pressure is on, so I’m rounding up a bunch of gift ideas for the mothers, aunts, grandmothers, sisters, and mom friends in your life.

The Ultimate Gift Guide for Mom, a.k.a., the Mother's Day Gift Guide (you'll both love)

Highclere Hat: This ladylike hat has a sweet, sophisticated style with the perfect wide, floppy brim. It’s both easygoing and proper – matching with so many looks.

The Happiness Planner: Help mom focus on herself a little, with positive-thinking, goal-setting, and reflection, all in a pretty journal. It’s Anthropologie approved.

Eliza Gran Pom Pom Basket: Remember how I told you just the other day that French market baskets would be all the rage this Spring and Summer? Well these Eliza Gran pom pom baskets just will not get out of my head. The perfect storage piece, I can’t think of mama who wouldn’t want one of these pretty baskets.

Palm Springs Bath Towel: This luxe striped towel doubles as a throw, perfect for beach days and picnics.

Tory Burch Thea Medium Slouchy Satchel: What Mama doesn’t want a new Tory Burch bag? Especially one this functional and beautiful.

Salvatore Ferragamo Miss Vara Wallet: The sweetest little bow-topped wallet.

Yves Saint Laurent BLUSH VOLUPTÈ Heart Of Light Powder Blush: Who wouldn’t want Yves Saint Laurent beauty products? And this blush is perfection in a palette.

CB2 3-Piece Roundabout Taper Candle Holder Set: Modern gold candle holders are always a good choice.

Star Mela Saga Cosmetic Pouch: Moms alike typically have one purse disaster in common – their beauty products and essentials are cluttered in the deepest depths of their handbags. Save moms everywhere with an adorable zip pouch.

Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Coconut Water Hydrating Face Mist: This magic in a bottle tones, hydrates, and softens, all while smelling incredible.

Tory Burch Beach Towel: If mom needs a vacation (yes!), get her this adorable oversized beach towel. Let Dad get the trip.

Areaware Contour Key Ring: The chicest understated key rings.

Tiny Toc Leather Ring Bowl: How adorable and ingenious is this small leather dish? From Moreea Seal, “Perfect for small jewelry on the dresser-top or bits & bobs or business cards on the desk, the Tiny Toc is a great catchall for life’s little details.”

Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Eau de Toilette Spray: I am a huge fan of Miss Dior perfumes and this Spring-through-Summer scent is heavenly. Already wish-listed.

Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry Lip Balm: This stuff is the best, smells like strawberry shortcake, and is an easy little gift to slip into a card.

Welcome To The Jungle Doormat: This one’s pretty self-explanatory. Just come for a visit.

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Honey Bubble Bath: Rumor has it, this stuff smells amazing.

Bric’s Luggage Bellagio Ultra-Light 32 Inch Spinner Trunk: I’ll just be here, dreaming about this luggage.

Hand Forged Brass Serving Spoon Set: Entertaining mavens will be all over this brass serveware.

Gold Pineapple Tumbler: Mom can pretend she’s on vacation with a cocktail in a gold pineapple. Happiness every day.

Loeffler Randall Lina Scalloped D’Orsay Sandals: Delicate and feminine, she’ll fall instantly in love with these beauties.

Kitchenaid Copper Metallic Series Stand Mixer: Because yes, most of us do dream of copper mixers.

15 Favorite French Market Baskets

The weather has been completely perfect, and I have flowers and outdoor markets and beach days on the brain. What’s more perfect for all of those things than a classic French market basket? They’ve been popping up all over design magazines and blogs, and for good reason. French market baskets are hugely practical; take them from picnics to shopping to beach trips to summer travel. They’re equally adorable as decorative storage in the home – think repository for loose things, a place in your entryway for umbrellas or shoes, a spot in the living room to collect magazines or toys for your littles, a darling way to store towels in the bathroom, the list goes on and on. I also love the textural element that they add to a space in your home: try hanging a market tote and sun hat in your entryway and see how it totally transforms the space to a French countryside or beach-inspired foyer.

15 Favorite French Market Baskets, like this Leather & Seagrass Tote Basket

Hunt area markets or even flower shops for your very own french market baskets. If you’re looking for something local, Anthropologie always has great basket totes (especially in Spring and Summer). I also can’t take my eyes off of this French market basket backpack, this French Market tote, and the Leather & Seagrass Tote Basket via Hendrix & Harlow (above). Domino and Amazon both have really affordable options. (This is the exact market basket I have!)

Target also has an ADORABLE Nate Berkus Seagrass Tote Basket on sale right now (just sayin’!)

Heidi Merrick Spring 2016 Collection

I’ve long been a fan of Los Angeles based designer Heidi Merrick’s breezy, feminine pieces. (Remember the dress I wore to my baby shower? Love it and still wear it all of the time.)

Heidi Merrick’s collections are modern California minimalism, with delicate frocks and ruffled details and sea-inspired fabrics. Heidi Merrick’s Spring 2016 collection is no exception, but possibly one of her best. I’m loving the clean lines and refined silhouettes, and the delicate, drapey fabric. So many of the styles from the Spring 2016 collection are beautiful in motion, and even things like the “muscle” dress ooze femininity.

Little Love Notes

Table Setting

Happy Passover to those who celebrate! This weekend I’m hosting a small seder – hubby’s mom is in town – and I’m cooking all day. In case you’re looking for a few surefire Passover Seder recipes or the yummiest candied matzoh brittle (a.k.a., “matzoh crack”), look no further. Want to see just what I’m making? I’ll be sharing a look at our seder prep, plus what we’re up to throughout the rest of the weekend over on instagramfacebooktwitter, and snapchat → glitterinclexi (lots of fun behind-the-scenes there). Follow along!

How about you? Any exciting weekend plans?

With that, a few little love notes …

Dear Pinterest recipe magic, five of the most popular recipes on the Internet put to the test.

Dear Kate Middleton, you’re basically a rockstar. Seriously guys, just check out all the times the Duchess has played sports in heels.

Dear design musings, this kitchen pantry with a sliding barn door is the stuff dreams are made of.

Dear everyone, are you awkward? Take this funny quiz to find out. (Thankfully, I’m just a tiny bit awkward.)

Dear tweet truths, this. Seriously, every time I offer hubby a snack, and he says, “No, thanks” and then he eyes mine. Marriage; in a nutshell.

Dear trouble sleeping, this writer shares how she finally learned to sleep.

Dear Spring finds, this little white dress has stolen my heart.

Dear weekend baking, chewy flourless double chocolate chip cookies.

Parenting Must-Have: Dyson V6 Absolute Cord-Free Vacuum

sponsored box

I’m not sure I could sound any more adult than I’m about to; but here goes: I’m in love with my Dyson V6 Absolute Cord-Free Vacuum. As a mom to one very active toddler, I can’t think of a better all-in-one mess-saver. The running joke in our house is that no matter how often we clean up, Scarlett has already managed to make ten more messes for us to clean. And don’t even get me started on her high chair, the couch cushions, her car seat, the steps. (I swear she’ll never get lost because she leaves little snack trails everywhere she goes!)

Parenting Must-Have: Dyson V6 Absolute Cord-Free Vacuum

The Dyson cord-free vacuum helps me stay on top of it all because I can easily and quickly clean up the messes Scarlett creates, well, everywhere. I simply undock the machine, do a quick spot clean, and then dock it again so it’s all charged for the next mess, wherever that may be. It’s also so light, I can vacuum with one hand while holding my toddler in the other! I don’t have the time or energy to lug the old corded vacuum out, plug and re-plug it from room to room, so this truly is the perfect solution for my busy lifestyle.

Parenting Must-Have: Dyson V6 Absolute Cord-Free Vacuum

And you’d be amazed at how much you can get cleaned up in less than 20 minutes. I’m almost embarrassed to admit how easy this vacuum makes cleaning. The cord-free technology is my favorite part: from her high chair to the steps to cereal that has fallen in between couch crevices, then outside to clean up the car seat and car.

The handheld feature is even lighter and 100% portable. Gone are the days that I dread taking our huge vacuum out of the closet, plugging it in from room to room, and untangling the mess of cords. When I see a mess, I simply pop out the little handheld extension, clip it right in, and voila: I’m ready to tackle a quick spill.

Same goes for the stairs. So easy.

I even found a way to clean my favorite sheepskin rug. It’s the little things!

Cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore. With Dyson V6 cord-free vacuums, you can clean from floor to ceiling with Dyson power, without the hassle of a cord. Clean carpets, cobwebs in corners, or convert to handheld mode for countertops, couches and car interiors. No more lugging, plugging and re-plugging the old corded vacuum – just un-dock and go.
