Summer Beauty: What to Pack for a Getaway

This post is promoted by Target Style.

I love taking little weekend vacations away – whether it’s a few hours to the beach, or up to my parents’ house in Maine, far from the city. We actually have some great things planned in the month of August (can’t wait to show you more), but until then, I thought I’d share a mini guide to packing your beauty essentials for a mini summer getaway (by land, or by sea.) When packing for a quick summer getaway, start with a great weekender bag. I’m hands-down obsessed with my new leather weekender bag (Quality leather for a steal, I might add!), but I also have my eye on this striped canvas weekender (under $35.) As for what to pack, keep your personal care/beauty items to a minimum … it is vacation after all (e.g. toothbrush, facial cream, hair brush, etc.). The rest of your beauty bag should really include those must-haves.

This summer, I’m really trying to minimize my hair and makeup routine. With rising temperatures and gorgeous long days calling my name, I’ve taught myself to skip the hair tools and embrace my natural waves, and wear just the right touch of soft makeup for that sun-kissed glow. If you’re staying land-bound, focus on keeping your look easy and relaxed: a wide-brimmed floppy hat; hair ties; an illuminating face powder or bronzer; and comfortable sandals. If you’re headed to the beach, you’ll want a great beach waves tousling spray (something that will allow you to hop out of the ocean or shower and hit the town with just a few sprays); sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen to stay protected; light makeup; and of course, an adorable swimsuit. I’m in love with all of my recent summer finds at Target – especially in their never-ending beauty department. You can easily pack for any type of summer trip with Target.

What are your summer getaway beauty essentials? Do you give your hair iron a break? What about makeup? Do you keep it simple or over pack on beauty supplies?
