In my line of work (you know, that whole part-time lawyer gig), a matching set (or twin set) is just a cute name for a sterile uninspired suit (or worse, the dreaded pantsuit.) But since last season (and of course, decades before that … especially popular in the 1970s) the matching set – of the loud, ever-so-chic printed variety – is taking street style by storm. Take notes from Taylor Swift – she wears matching sets like a pro. These matchy-matchy coordinated sets are hitting the streets again come Spring, so you might as well get a leg up on the trend now.
So much street style inspiration out there. I love that the tops on most of these have a bit of a crop (playful and cute), while the bottom keeps the look classic and somewhat sophisticated. But don’t let the cropped length of many of the tops put you off – these will usually reveal just a hint of skin as most of the matching skirts and bottoms are designed to sit high on the waist, ensuring you’re pretty covered.
These sets are also great for mixing and matching, giving the look serious wear-potential. Love a trend that has the added bang-for-your-buck bonus.
