Thank goodness for the weekend! Plus a side of little love notes …
Dear Burberry, my jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw the new resort collection lace trench.
Dear oldies but goodies, these are worth the scroll. Robin Williams dressed like a cheerleader made my day.
Dear handwriting-challenged, if you left handwriting practice in the fifth grade, House of Earnest has the tips for better handwriting in three steps. (I’m all over this!)
Dear Summer movies, This is Where I Leave You (think, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Jason Bateman) looks like a great one.
Dear desktop upgrade, a few very pretty free desktop wallpapers.
Dear Elle Fanning, well aren’t you cute.
Dear gold pig bank of my dreams, you’re finally on sale. Uh oh.
Dear epic graduation speeches, I give you, Mindy Kaling … at Harvard Law.
Dear never-ending wanderlust, seven secret hotels in Paris.
Dear awesome things that happened this week, Style Me Pretty Living.
Dear weekend snacking, homemade fruit salsa with cinnamon crisps? Sounds perfect.

Truth time: I was starting to drown in my closet. My shelves were piled high with shoes from every season, and coats, dresses, jeans, you name it were all jammed together on the racks – it was all mixed in and totally terrifying. (a.k.a., not at all what you would expect from a fashion blogger … whoops!) Thanks to the Style Me Pretty photoshoot (you may have caught a few of these snaps of my new closet display space), and a serious need to refresh my old space (I’ve got baby on the brain!), I decided to tackle my closet head-on. Although I couldn’t purge all of it – I am a collector (ahem … hoarder) after all – I found a way to pull out some of the pieces I love most.
For the most part, I focused on my shoes and favorite statement accessories (namely the sparkly stuff) this go-around. Next up, I plan to pull a few of my favorite clothes and style them on a great wardrobe rack. Tutus were meant to be seen, after all. (I’ve had my eye on Sara’s inexpensive brass DIY garment rack for ages and it seems like the perfect way to display and organize my favorite wardrobe pieces.)
I also couldn’t have made it through the major closet overhaul without the help of my BFF, Starbucks®. (Totally in love with Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee … though I’m keeping it in moderation for another seven weeks, and then I’ll be in caffeine heaven – which I’m told I’ll need with a new baby to take care of!)

As you may have seen on various social media outlets in the last day or so, I am so excited to share the very big project I have been working on: a home tour and “behind the blog” double feature with one of my absolute favorite sites, Style Me Pretty Living. You cannot imagine how happy this makes me, and I truly hope you all love the features. I’m going to share a few of my favorite shots here, but definitely head on over to Style Me Pretty Living for the full features. (And of course, sending so many thanks to Jeremy Harwell for the incredible photography, the stylist extraordinaire Jenn Wurtzebach of The Chic Pad, and my ever-supportive hubby and sister who helped beyond measure.)
But first, a bit of background …
I’m not going to lie, when Style Me Pretty reached out asking whether I would be interested in some kind of home tour, I panicked. Hubby and I live in a pretty small space, and we’ve lived with the idea that we’re moving for the next many years for his inevitable residency, i.e., we’re surrounded by a crazy mix of hand-me-downs, inexpensive vintage finds, and DIY projects. (I was also about seven months pregnant at the time of this photoshoot, adding to the panic.) I love our little space, and it’s so very us, but I never ever thought it was truly worthy of a “home feature” on any major publication, let alone, one of the biggest: Style Me Pretty. Still, I wasn’t about to pass up such an incredible opportunity, so with help from a few of my favorites, and just a bit of crazy, we pulled it off. I hope you like!
By the way, if you haven’t heard of Style Me Pretty, prepare to be amazed. SMP is a gorgeous wedding resource devoted to the modern bride, and with over 16.5 million monthly page views, it is also one of the largest online wedding sites out there; and SMP Living is a full lifestyle off-shoot of the incredibly popular brand. SMP Living has also become one of my favorite go-to resources for all things lifestyle and home (think recipes, DIY projects, behind the scenes interviews with some of my favorite business creatives, and gorgeous design).

This past Saturday my mom, grandma, and sister threw me the most amazing baby shower. We held the party at Madi’s Tea Room in Miami and threw one over-the-top feminine tea party, complete with dresses and floppy hats, vintage tea cups, scones and finger sandwiches.
Like any great party (at least in my family), we wanted to have a craft (we’re all about party DIY’s), so we set up a flower bar, placing different flowers unto used vintage cans we collected. Each guest got a vintage tea cup that we put a piece of green floral foam into. Guests then made flower arrangements in their tea cups to take home.
We played a few baby shower games – “How well do you know the mom-to-be?” and present BINGO. And we had plenty of amazing tea party snacks to munch on throughout the event. By the way, scones may have just trumped bagels as my new favorite food group. Carbs and I are currently BFF’S.
I’m not sure there’s anything sweeter than opening up presents at your first baby shower. And I must say: little girl’s baby clothes are beyond cute! We got more tutus and cardigans than we can count, and you can’t imagine how happy that makes me. (I also think we may need to re-think baby girl’s furniture storage situation … a tiny nursery without a closet may prove trickier than we thought!)
At the end of the party, our guests took home their tea cup flower arrangements and these amazing tea pot and tea cup frosted sugar cookies from @treatsbyhelen (so good!)
A huge thank you to all of my family and friends who made the day so incredibly perfect! I don’t think hubby or I could feel more special and this little girl is going to be one loved bambina.

I just wanted to pop in to wish you all a very Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re somewhere celebrating with the ones you love, eating BBQ on red, white, and blue paper plates, and remembering all of those who have given so much for our country.
