Streetstyle Files: The Maxi

What I love most about street-style is that it captures women (and men) in clothing with a flare for the drama.  And these women, on their way to fashion shows and the like, all pull off eye-catching floor-length maxi skirts and dresses effortlessly.  I love the idea of a leather-jacket-topped maxi dress or full ballroom skirt for a night on the town — it’s so unexpected and just a touch dramatic … a.k.a., just the way fashion should be.

So I went on the hunt for the very best of the dramatic maxi dresses and skirts out there right now, and I came up with so many gorgeous options.  The verdict: bold ruffles are fabulous, as are great prints and layers.  And I really want a new leather jacket!

How gorgeous are these maxis?! I LOVE the sheer black lace and wish I could pull off a long skirt with such style. Thanks for sharing Lexi!

I really really wanted to wear a leather jacket with my (not at all traditional) wedding dress last year but everyone discouraged me – now I wish I had done it!

Oh my gosh – me too! I love that and I always wonder if I should have … (it was cold at my wedding anyway!)

Lexi, your blog is beautiful. I’m a media designer in the making and really the whole composition of your website is beautiful. I just had to get that off my mind. The leaning wall art is a great idea by the way, it’s the whole thought of hammers, nails and holes in the wall that have always put me off. The “leaning wall art” approach definitely makes the burden much smaller. Anyway, just wanted to leave my props xx.
