New Boots for Fall

I’m obsessed with boots.  I try to temper my love for them over the Summer, because I’d look like a crazy person in boots-and-tights in the Miami heat (I’m totally lying – I wear them straight through the Summer.)  But now that it’s officially Fall, I can wear my boots loud and proud …. and strategically add to my collection.

Meet my latest loves: studded combat boots // dalmatian-print patent heel booties // cheetah/dalmatian print mid-heel booties

Dress of the Week

There are so many photographs of this gorgeous Samuelle Couture dress, and that really should come as no surprise. The Amelie dress, described as – “Elegant draping in double faced silk charmeuse and silk chiffon. Chiffon underskirt with cascading tiers of chiffon and hand-dyed silk tulle along hemline.” – is delicate perfection.

The silk and chiffon photograph brilliantly, the cut is demure with gathered sleeves, but the clinging fabric and deep-cut v-neck are equal parts sexy.  This dress is straight out of a fairytale.

Little Love Notes

Dear Schmidt, I know that you’re a fictional character pieced together by the writers of New Girl, and I know that I’m married and all, but we could have really awesome babies together. (See Schmidt’s 2008 Online Dating Profile, set to the intro credits of The Hills.)

Dear Oh Joy, your new illustrated “How I’d Wear …” outfit posts are fabulous (and also make me want to draw again, not that I was ever very good, but still.)

Dear pretty little white coat, you’d look so chic on my shoulders during my crazy adventure at AltSummit in Salt Lake City … in January.  Yes, I plan ahead.  Way ahead.

Dear everyone who lives anywhere but Florida and Southern California, what is cold weather like?  Do your stores sell jackets with lining?  Where does one get a jacket with lining?  Would I look awkward wearing three pairs of jeans (at once) in Salt Lake City?

Dear weekend, I missed you.

A Great Dress: From Day to Night

I fell in love with this Target dress first – classic pleats, foil print, well-placed ruffle skirt.  It’s also the perfect day (a.k.a., the nine-to-five) to night dress, especially when paired with the right accessories.

merona blazer // black heels // tights // dress // leather jacket // cuff // leopard platforms

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake

Because sometimes a rich chocolate cake is all you need …

Have you been to a cake-testing yet?  Weren’t they all amazing? I think the hubby and I liked at least ten-to-twenty flavor combinations.  We were overwhelmed, and slightly nauseous.  But sometimes, when it really comes down to it, what’s classic, tastes amazing, and resonates well with the guests, it’s a traditional chocolate cake.
