When planning and creating my own wedding, I went to Michaels nearly every week. There is this great big Michaels craft store less than a mile from my house and I practically lived there in the months leading up to my big day. My mom, sister, and I were DIY-crazed. And we had a blast. Of course, now that the wedding is behind me, and I’m ever blogging about fabulous wedding inspiration, I basically want to try my hand at DIY-ing everything.
And the latest trend to catch my eye? Twine and yarn-wrapped wedding decor. Both twine and yarn add such a rustic feel to centerpieces, favors, and more. Michaels has all of these adorable ideas for incorporating the sweetest twine and yarn touches.
One of my favorites: twine and yarn-wrapped vases. Simply wrap glass vases and/or glass jars (I love mason jars — and really, who doesn’t?) with jute twine, yarn and finish with a shoestring bow.
I would also wrap silverware, drinking glasses, even wedding programs with twine or yarn to keep the theme going throughout the ceremony and party.
And if you really want to wow your guests, you can DIY these on-trend hanging yarn wedding lanterns (so romantic for a night-time wedding ceremony or outdoor party). All you’ll need for the lanterns are balloons, yarn and Stiffy® Fabric Stiffener.
Are you going to DIY parts of your wedding? I say, go for it!
