The best thing to do when it rains on your big day, is to take it in stride — literally. (ahem, buy rain boots.) Rain happens. (And in general, sh*t happens too, but on the day of your wedding, rain may seem like the end of the world as you know it, but you’ll feel fine … oh, yeah, totally channeling R.E.M. here.)
There’s no sense crying over a bit of rain – you’ll ruin your makeup and your good mood. Rain happens, but fabulous pictures happen to. If you’re wedding is smack in the middle of rainy season, come prepared. You wouldn’t head out, mid-Hurricane season sans umbrella, so why not prepare your wedding party for one of the most important days? Make rain boots an adorable wedding party gift, then, if it rains, your ladies are prepared as could be, and even if it doesn’t – photo opp!
Also, have a back-up plan if your wedding ceremony and/or reception is set for an outdoor venue. Be sure the venue you’ve planned has a rainy day plan, and have your friends and family prepared to jump on a change-of-plans, if needed. At your rehearsal dinner, particularly if the clouds are looming, have a take-charge kind of person school the wedding party on how to make the indoor switch.
