Vintage Whites

I love a soft vintage white with grey undertones.  Perfect for a winter or a rustic wedding, the colors set a perfect backdrop to a hauntingly beautiful white wedding.

A lot of vintage lace also often has either tea-colored or grey wash – and whether on a dress or as decor (think table runners, etc.), the pops of vintage lace really adds to the feel of the white wedding.

I Made You A Mixtape

{images a la pinterest}

Hand-holding was awkward, being dropped off at the movie theater for your date – more awkward, but when he made you a mix tape – that was love. Because I live a soundtracked life (more on that here), and because I am a product of the 80s, every Wednesday I’ll make you a mix tape. Who says chivalry is dead? You’re welcome.

This week I’m getting a little funky with the mixtape and adding a video element (yeah, 21st century!)

Ob-sessed with this cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”, by Walk Off the Earth.  The entire band shares and plays one guitar throughout the song.  So cool.

I saw Lady Gaga live last year and I was blown away.  She’s an incredibly talented performer + also, she’s completely nuts.  My kind of show.

I actually got the chance to watch Radiohead perform live this week in Miami and it was awesome! Thom Yorke performs like a maniac, throwing his whole body into it.  … makes me think my dancing is not so bad after all.

Incubus puts on one of my favorite shows ever.  And Brandon Boyd rarely wears clothing.

Tuesday Shoesday

Prepare yourself – these booties are not only awesome, they’re rose gold.  I’m completely taken with the rose gold trend, and I’m hoping it’s here to stay.

These Badgley Mischka’s also play double duty, both on trend with the glossy rose gold hue, but also the peep-toe bootie cut and wide satin ribbon lacing is a chic nod to vintage wedding booties of the 1920s and 1930s. And if you scroll down, you’ll notice the side-paneling of the shoes is actually lace.  A few studs, and these could be my dream heels.

**The Bride’s shoes are actually the Badgley Mischka Olaf Bootie Badgley from 2010.  Unfortunately, that style is long sold out, though I put together a guide to several luxe Badgley Mischka styles a few weeks back that might help …

Pancake Bar

In some small (or major) way, this post is probably me wishing it was still Sunday – but since it’s not, I’ll dream in brunch and eat microwaveable oatmeal instead (because everyone knows all good diet intentions start on Monday … by Wednesday I’ll be eating cookies, chocolate pudding, and popcorn for breakfast.)

Which brings me to this pancake bar.  Complete with fluffy pancakes, fruit and candy toppings, drizzles and syrups, and juice, this is a breakfast sugar high with my name on it.

Also, any table display that features chalkboard is awesome in my book. {Exhibit A}

Wedding brunches are a huge hit, because really, who doesn’t love breakfast?  Plus, the brunch can work either as the main event and/or the end to a perfect wedding weekend.  And a brunch can be gussied up with mimosas, bloody marys, even a coffee bar.  Get creative!

Remember when I talked about this adorable couple who served a sticky bun cake tower (in lieu of a traditional cake) at their brunch reception?  Genius, I tell you.

The Blanket Wrap Cardigan

The title alone has me sold – before I’ve even delved into the luxe sweater that celebrities and trend-setters all wear, the gorgeous patterns and oh-so-soft textures – no, I was sold at wearable blanket.  These sweater coats are literally blankets with sleeves, and I own several.  Also known as wrap cardigans, these sweaters have an open front with a whole lot of draping down the center, in lieu of buttons, zippers, etc.  They’re absolutely perfect for travel, walks on the beach, trips to … well, anywhere.

But who am I kidding?  I wear mine for long days in the office, almost exclusively.  Hey, at least I get away with wearing a blanket!
