If You Want To Destroy My Sweater

I’m struggling to understand the torn sweater trend.  Growing up, if a shirt so much as had a small hole on the seam, into the garbage it went.  It took my mom years to come around to the idea of jeans with a hole at the knee, and even now, when I wear destroyed denim she wrinkles her nose and I can see her dreaming up what color fabric would look best patched at the knee of my designer duds.

But the holey sweater, it’s just beyond me.  Celebrities LOVE the trend.  And let’s face it, they can afford clothes without holes.

Hold this thread as I walk away
Watch me unravel, I’ll soon be naked
Lying on the floor
I’ve come undone

I don’t get this trend either.

  2. Love the Sweater Song.

Hate, hate, HATE the tattered sweater look. Period. It looks sloppy.

On the other hand, torn jeans can be sexy if done correctly.

  3. Natalie

    Hate it. Looks sooo sloppy.

  4. I don’t understand this trend either- I have always been more into things that are not destroyed…

  5. I’m totally with you on this…celebrities seem to rock it and make it look like an east trend to adopt…but I’m skeptical!

i agree…this look is sloppy looking. nothing wrong with looking hippy or beachy, but i think polished and put together always looks better! =)

I don’t think I will ever understand the tattered clothes. Why would you pay top dollar for destroyed clothes?!

  9. This look is so sexy and soft though….but I kinda feel the same way about destroyed clothing..

You’re such a girl after my own heart. Anyone who quotes Weezer is alright with me…this sweater trend, on the other hand, is not. Hahaha!

My sister and I did a little experimenting with cutting old shirts last night. Kandee Johnson on youtube had some pretty cute ideas on it 🙂
