If you peruse the internet, or stalk it like a crazy person (guilty), then you have probably picked up on the serious buzz about Deborah Lippman nail polishes. Sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Nordstrom – these are not the kind of polishes you are going to find at a pharmacy or beauty supply store. Ms. Lippman herself boasted a line-up of celebrity clientele before releasing the wildly popular polishes. With perfect shades like Razzle Dazzle (a glittery red akin to Dorothy’s ruby slippers) and Naked (maybe the most perfect nude ever), it’s not surprising that most of these colors are sold out before we mere mortals can get our hands on them.
But would you shell out $18 for a bottle of polish? (Yes, I still cringe at the $9 price tag for Essie and OPI polishes. I’m not sure how I could come to terms with an $18 bottle. I have tried all of the logic: polish brings you such joy, you can wear it again and again and again, new colors can add so much to an outfit. But the truth is, I’m ruined. Darn you Wet n Wild. Back in the old days – she says with a crackly voice and a heating pad – I could buy my nail polish for 99 cents.) I’m cheap (*cough* – poor).
